Pune SIR Process Nears Completion; 99.99% Enumeration Forms Distributed
Pune, 17th August 2026: The Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls in Pune district has entered its final stage, with 99.99% of Enumeration Forms distributed among the district’s 90,80,173 registered voters. The digitisation of the forms is also nearing completion, with 99.94% of the forms digitised so far.
The process has identified 7,25,049 anomalies in voter records. Officials said these anomalies may arise due to discrepancies in age, names or mapping between the 2002 electoral records and current voter records. Voters whose records are flagged will be given an opportunity to appear for a hearing and provide the required documents for verification.
Anomalies Do Not Necessarily Mean Incorrect Voter Records
Officials clarified that the identification of an anomaly does not automatically mean that a voter’s record is incorrect.
An anomaly may be generated when the age recorded in the 2002 electoral roll does not correspond with the voter’s current age, when there is an error in the name, or when an issue occurs during the mapping process.
For instance, the software may flag an anomaly if the recorded age difference between two siblings is less than nine months. Such cases will be verified individually before any further action is taken.
Notices for voters identified under the anomaly category will be generated through the software during the hearing process. The concerned voters will then be given an opportunity to submit documents and clarify their records.
8.18 Lakh Voters Listed Under ‘No Linkage’
The hearing process will also cover voters classified under the ‘No Linkage’ category.
This category includes voters whose names were not found in the 2002 electoral roll and whose records could not be linked to those of their parents, grandparents or other eligible relatives appearing in the 2002 roll.
Such voters will also be given an opportunity to present their case. Further action will be taken according to the applicable rules after verification.
At present, 7,25,049 anomaly cases and 8,18,398 ‘No Linkage’ cases have been identified, taking the total number of voters expected to undergo the hearing process to 15,43,447.
However, officials said this number could decline as document verification progresses. If an anomaly is resolved during the verification process, the concerned voter may not need to appear for a hearing.
ASD Voter Lists Available Online
The district administration has also made constituency-wise lists of ASD voters — Absent, Shifted, Dead and Duplicate — available on the Pune Collector’s official website.
Pune District Collector Jitendra Dudi has appealed to citizens to check the lists and verify whether their names have been included.
If a voter finds their name in the ASD list, they will have to submit Form 6 to apply for fresh voter registration.
Form 6 and 7 Required for Voters Mapped to Another State
If a voter was previously mapped to Goa, Bihar or another state and wants to register as a voter in Maharashtra, they will have to submit Form 7 at the previous location and subsequently submit Form 6 in Maharashtra for voter registration.
For a change of address within the electoral roll, voters can use Form 8 as per the prescribed procedure.
Three More Days for Verification and Digitisation
Electoral Registration Officers (EROs) will undertake the process of collecting the required documents from voters and resolving anomaly cases over the next three days.
The district administration has also indicated that another three days have been allocated to complete the remaining digitisation work. Officials said all pending work is expected to be completed during this period.
The administration has urged voters to check their electoral records and respond to any notice issued during the SIR verification process to ensure that their details are correctly reflected in the electoral rolls.
