Pune: Charholi Residents Flag Civic Woes, Threaten Road Blockade over Inaction
Pimpri Chinchwad, 18th August 2026: Residents and office-bearers of housing societies in the Charholi area have come together to raise a host of civic issues, including water shortage, garbage management, poor roads and pollution allegedly caused by stone-crushing units in the area.
A meeting of office-bearers from around 10 housing societies was recently held at Pranam Towers Society in Charholi. Participants discussed several issues affecting residents and decided to approach the Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) commissioner and officials from the concerned departments with a memorandum.
Residents said ongoing construction activity has further worsened road conditions, with construction material, soil and gravel being left on roads. They said the problems have been causing inconvenience to residents on a daily basis and urged the civic administration to take immediate action.
The society representatives also decided to seek a meeting with concerned civic officials to put forward the issues and seek concrete solutions.
The residents warned that if the administration fails to take appropriate action, office-bearers of all housing societies and local residents will come together to launch a protest through democratic and legal means. They also warned of a possible road blockade if the problems remain unresolved.
The representatives said the issues were not limited to any single housing society but concerned the basic rights and civic amenities of residents across the area.
Sanjeevan Sangle, president of the Chikhali Moshi Pimpri Chinchwad Society Federation, said residents of around 15 housing societies in the Kali Bhint area were facing several problems.
“Members of around 15 societies in the Kali Bhint area of Charholi are facing several difficulties. The Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation is not even providing basic civic amenities to residents. This is extremely unfortunate and a matter of concern for society members,” Sangle said.
He said the civic administration should resolve the issues at the earliest, failing which residents and society members from the area would be mobilised for democratic protests and a road blockade.
“We will also prevent inactive representatives of all political parties from entering these housing societies,” he added.
