Pune: Boy, 11, Crushed Under Truck After Bike Skids on Pothole in Mahalunge
Mahalunge, 18th August 2026: An 11-year-old boy was killed after the two-wheeler on which he was travelling with his father and sister allegedly skidded due to a pothole in Mahalunge on Monday evening. The boy fell onto the road and came under the wheels of a truck following the two-wheeler.
The accident occurred around 7pm near Durga Cafe in front of Green Court Society in Mahalunge on Monday. The incident was captured on a CCTV camera, and the footage has since circulated on social media.
According to preliminary information, the boy was travelling with his father and sister on the two-wheeler while they were on their way to tuition. The vehicle reportedly lost balance after hitting a pothole, following which the boy fell onto the road. An Eicher truck approaching from behind ran over him, resulting in his death on the spot.
A large number of residents gathered at the spot following the accident. The incident has once again brought the poor condition of roads and the presence of potholes across Mahalunge to the fore, triggering anger among residents.
Residents have demanded immediate repairs to the roads and installation of adequate safety measures and warning signs at accident-prone stretches.
The incident has also raised questions over the condition of roads in the area and the measures being taken by the authorities to prevent accidents caused by potholes.
