Driving in Pune on August 26? Check These Road Closures and Diversions for Eid-e-Milad
Pune, 24th August 2026: The Pune Traffic Police have announced temporary road closures and diversions across several parts of the city for the Eid-e-Milad procession scheduled for Wednesday, August 26.
The restrictions are intended to prevent congestion and ensure the safety of procession participants and other road users, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Traffic) P.R. Patil said in an official notification.
The main procession will begin at Manushah Masjid in Nana Peth and pass through Sant Kabir Chowk, A.D. Camp Chowk, Bharat Cinema, Padamji Police Chowky Chowk, Nishat Cinema, Chudaman Talim, Babajan Dargah, Qureshi Masjid, 15 August Chowk, M.G. Road, Mohammed Rafi Chowk, Kohinoor Chowk, Mahavir Chowk, Centre Street, Sarbatwala Chowk, Quarter Gate, Nana Chawdi Chowk, Alpana Cinema, Hamza Khan Chowk, Govind Halwai Chowk and Suman Shah Dargah Chowk before concluding at a mosque in Shukrawar Peth.
Traffic will remain suspended on both sides of the main procession route while the event is under way. Roads and lanes connecting to the route may also be closed up to 100 metres from their junctions with the procession route.
Police have planned diversions at 20 locations, including Sant Kabir Chowk, Quarter Gate, Nana Peth, Padamji Police Chowky Chowk, A.D. Camp Chowk, Chudaman Talim Chowk, Babajan Chowk, Mahavir Chowk, Sarbatwala Chowk, Govind Halwai Chowk and Hamza Khan Chowk.
Depending on traffic and crowd conditions, restrictions at certain locations—including the Camp Y-Junction and the ISKCON Temple Chowk—may be implemented from 9 a.m.
Motorists travelling through Rasta Peth, Nana Peth, Camp, M.G. Road, Centre Street, East Street, Laxmi Road and adjoining areas have been advised to use alternative routes. Vehicles travelling from Hadapsar, Swargate and Nehru Road will also be diverted through designated corridors.
Devotees arriving from Mundhwa, Kondhwa, Fatimanagar, Hadapsar, Wanowrie and Khadki have been asked to park their vehicles near Khane Maruti Chowk and Indira Gandhi Chowk and proceed on foot to join the procession. Entry into the middle of the main procession will not be permitted.
A separate procession from Khadki will begin at Tikaram Chowk and proceed via D.R. Gandhi Chowk and the Old Maharashtra Bank Chowk before turning towards Jama Masjid and dispersing at Khadki Bazaar.
Two-wheelers, cars, autorickshaws, tempos and other light vehicles will not be allowed on the designated procession routes. Vehicles found violating the restrictions may face action under traffic regulations. Emergency-service vehicles, including ambulances, fire engines and police vehicles, will be exempt.
The restrictions will be imposed temporarily and lifted in stages after the procession passes through each section. Traffic travelling behind the procession will be allowed to resume gradually.
The traffic police have appealed to citizens to avoid the notified routes, refrain from parking vehicles along them and cooperate with personnel deployed on diversion duty.
