Pune: PMC Allots 308 Temporary Stalls at 23 Locations for Ganesh Idol Sales
Pune, 31st August 2026: With Ganeshotsav approaching, the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) has designated 23 locations across the city for the sale of Ganesh idols, providing space for 308 temporary stalls.
The move aims to facilitate authorised idol vendors while preventing encroachments on roads and footpaths during the festive season.
Vendors will be permitted to set up stalls at designated open spaces, municipal plots, grounds and playgrounds instead of occupying public roads and footpaths.
According to the PMC’s Estate Management Department, locations have been identified across several parts of the city. The Lohgaon-Kharadi area has been allocated the highest number of stalls, with 65 spaces earmarked for vendors.
The Kothrud-Bavdhan area will have 40 stalls across three locations, while the Hadapsar-Mundhwa area has been allotted stalls at two locations. Dhanori will have 30 stalls across two locations, while Vadgaon has also been allocated 30 stalls.
Other designated areas include Balewadi, Kondhwa, Parvati, Katraj, Bibwewadi, Dhayari, Warje-Karvenagar and Ghole Road.
Rs 10,000 Security Deposit Mandatory
Applicants seeking permission to operate temporary stalls will have to deposit a refundable security amount of Rs 10,000. Eligible vendors will also be required to pay the prescribed rent for the approved 10-day period, along with sanitation and cleaning charges.
The authorised stalls will operate from September 5 to September 14, 2026.
The vendors will be responsible for constructing the temporary stalls and obtaining the necessary permissions from the police and other concerned authorities.
The PMC’s initiative is aimed at streamlining Ganesh idol sales across the city while reducing traffic congestion and unauthorised encroachments during one of Pune’s biggest annual festivals.
By providing designated vending spaces, the civic body aims to ensure smoother traffic movement and better management of public spaces during Ganeshotsav.
