MIT-WPU Pune Protest Turns Ugly: Faculty Member Slapped Student, Students Allegedly Hit Back

Kothrud, 1st September 2026: A protest broke out at MIT-WPU in Kothrud after students who appeared for the year-down examination were allegedly failed again.

Students from different departments were reportedly part of the protest, along with members of a political party’s youth wing.

The situation escalated after a faculty member allegedly slapped a student. Students then allegedly retaliated, with reports claiming that the faculty member was slapped 4–5 times.

Police had to be called to control the situation.

The incident has raised questions over the examination process and the conduct of both students and faculty during the protest.
