Pune: 75% Land For Purandar Airport Now In District Administration’s Possession

Pune, 10th September 2026: The Pune district administration has taken physical possession of around 75% of the land required for the proposed international airport at Purandar, with ₹3,600 crore already paid to farmers as compensation for the acquisition.

Pune district collector Jitendra Dudi said the administration expects to take possession of nearly 80% of the required land by the end of September.

Land acquisition is currently underway across 1,216 hectares in seven villages of Purandar taluka — Vanpuri, Kumbharvalan, Udachiwadi, Ekhatpur, Pargaon, Munjwadi and Khanwadi. So far, around 96% of the affected farmers have given their consent to the acquisition process.

According to Dudi, physical possession of around 850 hectares has been secured, while compensation amounting to ₹3,600 crore has been distributed among the affected landowners.

The state government has allocated ₹6,000 crore for the land acquisition process. Of this, ₹5,200 crore has been earmarked for land to be acquired directly for the airport, while around ₹800 crore has been set aside for acquiring developed plots that will be returned to landowners as part of the provision to give them 10% developed land.

Dudi said the administration is working to secure possession of around 80% of the required land by the end of September. The progress is expected to facilitate further work on the proposed Purandar international airport project.
