Certificate Distribution Held for Kannada Language Learning Class
Pune, 10th September 2026: Consistent practice is crucial for mastering any language, and regular conversation, reading, and group learning can significantly enhance language skills, said retired Principal Chandrakant Harkude.
He was speaking as the Chief Guest at the Certificate Distribution Ceremony of the 2025–26 Kannada Language Learning Class, organized by Kannada Sangha Pune at the Dr. Gunduraj M. Shetty Auditorium, Dr. Kalmadi Shamarao High School (Kannada Medium), Pune.
Presiding over the event, Malati S. Kalmadi, Secretary of Kannada Sangha Pune, said there is no age bar for learning a language. She stressed that it is everyone’s duty to preserve their language and culture by staying connected to their community and not forgetting their mother tongue. She lauded the enthusiasm of students who, though living away from their native place, are keen to learn their mother tongue.
Jyoti Kadakol, Principal of Dr. Kalmadi Shamarao High School (Kannada Medium), was also present. She spoke about the rich legacy and distinctiveness of Kannada and appreciated the students’ interest in learning the language, underscoring the role of cultural activities in promoting Kannada.
Certificates were then distributed to the students. Kannada language teachers Pratima Desai and Deepti Kulkarni were present on the occasion.
The programme began with a prayer by Chhaya Nagar, Librarian of Kannada Sangha Pune, while Saibhadra Rai, Public Relations Officer of the Sangha, anchored the event.
For several years, Kannada Sangha Pune has been conducting Kannada learning classes for enthusiasts in Pune, making a significant contribution to the preservation and promotion of the language and culture.
