Undri RMC Operations: PMC Commissioner Orders Action On Dust, Noise, Roads And Heavy Vehicles

Pune, 10th September 2026: Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) Commissioner Naval Kishore Ram on Thursday inspected an RMC site in Undri following complaints from residents about dust pollution, heavy vehicle movement, damaged roads, noise pollution and safety concerns in the residential area.
During the inspection, Commissioner Ram reviewed documents related to RMC operations and interacted with residents present at the site. Citizens highlighted several concerns arising from the movement of heavy vehicles and the operation of RMC plants near residential neighbourhoods.
Commissioner Ram directed the concerned officials and RMC operators to ensure strict compliance with all prescribed norms and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
The following issues were specifically reviewed and directions were issued:
Timings: RMC-related activities and heavy vehicle movement must strictly adhere to the prescribed timings.
Vehicle fitness: Vehicles operating from the RMC site must have valid fitness certificates and comply with safety requirements.
Noise pollution: Necessary measures must be taken to control and reduce noise pollution caused by RMC operations and vehicle movement.
Road construction: PMC will undertake road construction and improvement work in the area to address concerns regarding damaged roads and heavy vehicle movement.
Drainage infrastructure: Existing drainage arrangements will be reviewed and necessary improvements undertaken to ensure proper drainage.
CCTV cameras: CCTV cameras will be installed at appropriate locations to strengthen surveillance and improve safety.
Signage: Proper road and safety signage will be provided to regulate vehicle movement and guide motorists and residents.
Residents’ Concerns
Residents of Undri have raised concerns over the operation of several RMC plants in and around residential neighbourhoods. Citizens have alleged that the plants and movement of heavy concrete mixer trucks have contributed to dust pollution, damaged roads, traffic problems and safety hazards.
Residents have submitted complaints to the Maharashtra Pollution Control Board (MPCB) and other concerned authorities, seeking inspections and strict enforcement of environmental norms. They have also sought the relocation of RMC plants away from residential areas.
The issue has gained significance amid rapid residential development in Undri, with projects such as Tata Inora Park, Godrej Prana and Mayuri Infinity, among others, located in the surrounding area.
Commissioner’s Directions
Following the inspection, the PMC Commissioner directed officials to address the concerns raised by residents and ensure that RMC operators comply with the required norms and SOPs.
“PMC will undertake the necessary road construction work in the area. At the same time, all prescribed norms and SOPs must be strictly followed. Issues related to timings, vehicle fitness, noise pollution, drainage, CCTV surveillance and signage must also be addressed,” Commissioner Naval Kishore Ram said.
