Pune : Traffic Diversions On September 15 For Atharvashirsha Recitation

Pune, 14th September 2026: Traffic in central Pune will be diverted from 5am on Tuesday (September 15) for the Atharvashirsha recitation programme organised during Ganeshotsav. The diversions will remain in place until the programme concludes, police said.

The Shrimant Dagdusheth Halwai Sarvajanik Ganpati Trust has organised the recitation on the occasion of Rishi Panchami, which is expected to draw a large number of women devotees.

According to traffic police, vehicular movement will be restricted on Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Road between Jijamata Chowk and Rameshwar Chowk, the stretch between Appa Balwant Chowk and Hutatma Chowk (Budhwar Chowk), and on Laxmi Road between Vijay Maruti Chowk and Belbag Chowk.

Motorists travelling towards Swargate from Jijamata Chowk have been advised to take Ganesh Road, Phadke Houd Chowk and Devjibaba Mandir Chowk, and turn right towards Maharana Pratapsingh Road. They can then proceed via Hamzekhan Chowk and Govind Halwai Chowk before turning right at Gotiram Bhaiyya Chowk in Mandai and heading towards Swargate.

Traffic from Appa Balwant Chowk towards Budhwar Chowk will be prohibited. Motorists have been advised to take Bajirao Road, Phutka Buruj Chowk, Shaniwar Wada, Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Road and Jijamata Chowk to reach their destinations.

Traffic between Vijay Maruti Chowk and Sonya Maruti Chowk on Laxmi Road will be diverted as required. Motorists have been advised to take the route via Sonya Maruti Chowk, Bohri Ali, Mirza Ghalib Chowk, Nehru Chowk and Gotiram Bhaiyya Chowk.

Deputy Commissioner of Police Dr Sandeep Bhajibhakre appealed to motorists to use alternative routes and cooperate with the traffic police during the programme.
