Pune: Fire Brigade Steps Up Safety Measures for Ganeshotsav Immersion
Pune, 14th September 2026: With Ganeshotsav celebrations underway, the Pune Fire Brigade has strengthened its preparedness at major Ganpati immersion ghats across the city to ensure the safety of devotees and prevent untoward incidents.
Around 15 major immersion ghats have been covered under the fire brigade’s arrangements. A total of 20 officers, 20 fire personnel and 120 lifeguards have been deployed at these locations. The lifeguards have been equipped with essential rescue equipment, including life jackets, life rings and ropes, to respond to emergencies during the immersion process.
On Sunday, Chief Fire Officer Ganesh Sonune inspected several immersion ghats, including Sangam Ghat and Punyashlok Ahilyadevi Holkar Ghat, to review the safety arrangements. During the inspection, Sonune directed officers, fire personnel and lifeguards to remain vigilant and ensure that all necessary safety measures are in place.
The fire brigade has also positioned fire tenders and other emergency response vehicles along major immersion procession routes. These arrangements will remain in place during the various immersion days, including the one-and-a-half-day, five-day, seven-day and Anant Chaturdashi immersions.
The Pune Fire Brigade has emphasised the need for continuous vigilance at immersion sites and along procession routes to ensure the celebrations conclude safely and without any untoward incident.
