Pune: Students Flag Evaluation Discrepancies in MPSC Agriculture Services Main 2024
Pune, 16th September 2026: Allegations of irregularities in the evaluation process of the Maharashtra Public Service Commission’s (MPSC) Agriculture Services Main Examination 2024 have raised questions over the assessment of answer sheets, with students demanding rechecking or re-evaluation of all answer sheets.
The discrepancies came to light through an analysis of mark sheets and answer sheets obtained under the Right to Information (RTI) Act. Students have claimed that there were significant variations between the marks awarded by the original examiner and those subsequently given by regulators during the evaluation process.
In one case, an examiner initially awarded 135 marks to a candidate. A regulator later reduced the score to 101, while another regulator further reduced it to 68. This resulted in a reduction of 67 marks from the score awarded by the original examiner — nearly half of the original marks.
The wide variation has raised questions over the criteria used by the examiners and regulators. Students have questioned whether the marks awarded by the original examiner or those given after moderation were correct.
Students have also alleged that several candidates received high marks despite their answers not being written in the expected manner.
The students have demanded that all answer sheets be rechecked and that the discrepancies between the marks awarded by examiners and regulators be investigated. They have also sought an independent verification of the moderation process.
The students have further demanded that further proceedings based on the examination results be kept on hold until their concerns are addressed. They have sought details on whether the evaluation was carried out by subject experts and, if so, disclosure of the relevant information.
