Pune, 18th September 2026: Social media influencer Santosh Gajanan Pandit, who was arrested over allegedly derogatory remarks against Higher and Technical Education Minister Chandrakant Patil and a woman corporator, was released from Yerawada Central Jail after a court granted him bail.

Pandit was remanded to judicial custody in Yerawada jail following his arrest. After his release on bail, he spoke to the media and said he had not intended to hurt anyone’s sentiments.

“My intention was not to hurt anyone’s feelings. However, if anyone felt that way, I sincerely apologise,” Pandit said.

He said his arrest had come as a shock but added that he had faith in the judicial process as the matter is now before the court.

Pandit said he would continue to question elected representatives and those in power, describing it as his constitutional right.

“People should ask questions in a democracy. Those whom we elect and those who are in power should be questioned, irrespective of the political party,” he said.

Pandit maintained that he had not personally targeted anyone and said his intention was to work for the benefit of the public. He added that he would continue to exercise his constitutional rights and raise questions.

The court granted him bail subject to conditions, including that he must not directly or indirectly contact the complainant and must not tamper with evidence in the case.
