Pune: PCMC, Police Remove 18 Stalls Facilitating Public Drinking at PMT Chowk in Bhosari

Pimpri Chinchwad, 18th September 2026: Eighteen unauthorised roadside stalls at PMT Chowk in Bhosari were removed during a joint drive by Bhosari police and the Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) on Wednesday.

The action targeted stalls allegedly providing space and facilities for drinking alcohol in public. The drive was carried out with the assistance of the civic body’s encroachment removal department, clearing unauthorised structures on both sides of the road and opening up the roadside area.

PMT Chowk witnesses heavy pedestrian and vehicular movement. Police had received complaints about people consuming alcohol in the open around some of the stalls, causing inconvenience to women, pedestrians and local residents.

Police found that some stall operators were allegedly providing seating and other facilities to people consuming alcohol, prompting the joint action.

Meanwhile, Bhosari police have registered 179 cases of public drinking since January 1, 2026, as part of their crackdown on alcohol consumption in public places.

Deputy commissioner of police Maruti Jagtap said strict action would continue against public drinking, illegal activities and those causing inconvenience to citizens. He also appealed to residents to inform police immediately if they come across such activities.
