Pune Electoral Roll Revision: Notices Issued to 13.32 Lakh Voters, Hearings From September 24

Pune, 19th September 2026: The Pune district election administration has started issuing notices to 13,32,418 voters as part of the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls. The notices are being issued after election officials received access to the relevant system from the Election Commission of India (ECI).

Hearings will be conducted between September 24 and October 30, with the process scheduled to begin regularly from September 28. The ECI has made it mandatory to provide voters with at least seven days between the date of receiving a notice and the hearing.

Of the 13.32 lakh cases, 5,77,821 involve errors or discrepancies in names, addresses and other voter details. These cases can be resolved at the Booth Level Officer (BLO) level if voters submit the required documents. Such cases will not require a separate hearing.

The remaining 7,54,597 cases mainly involve voters whose details could not be linked to or verified against the 2002 electoral roll. These voters are likely to be called for hearings and will be required to submit documents to establish their identity, residence and eligibility to vote.

The election administration expects that resolving name- and address-related discrepancies at the BLO level will reduce the number of voters who ultimately need to appear for hearings.

The administration has a limited window to complete the process, as notices must be issued, documents verified and hearings conducted within the stipulated period. To manage the workload, 21 Electoral Registration Officers (EROs) and 700 Assistant Electoral Registration Officers (AEROs) have been appointed. Each officer will be assisted by a team of five to six staff members.

“After a notice is served, a minimum period of seven days before the hearing is mandatory. If voters submit the required documents for corrections in their names or addresses, these cases can be resolved by the Booth Level Officers. Therefore, hearings will mainly be required for voters whose details could not be verified against the 2002 electoral roll. The required manpower has been deployed to complete the process within the available time,” said Meenal Kalskar, Deputy District Election Officer.
