Solapur: Nine-Year-Old Brain-Dead Boy Gives New Lease Of Life To Four Patients Through Organ Donation
Solapur, 30th September 2026: A nine-year-old boy from a farming family who was declared brain-dead following a road accident in Solapur has given a new lease of life to four patients after his parents decided to donate his organs.
The boy was injured in a road traffic accident while crossing the road in front of his home. He was immediately admitted to Chandan Neurosciences Hospital in Solapur, where he was treated under the care of Dr Prasanna Kasegaonkar.
Despite medical efforts, the child was declared brain-dead during treatment. He was managed by intensivists Dr Pallavi Mehta and Dr Viresh Nashte, along with Dr Santosh Gujare, Dr Shard Jadhav and transplant coordinator Dr Sandeep Patil.
Amid the tragedy, the boy’s parents took the decision to donate his organs, enabling four patients to receive transplants.
According to the hospital, the donated organs were allocated as follows:
Heart: Transplanted into a child patient in Chennai
Liver: Donated to a patient in Pune
Both kidneys: Donated to two patients in Pune
The organ donation has given four patients an opportunity for a new lease of life. The case also highlights the role of organ donation in helping critically ill patients even amid the loss of a loved one.
The donation took place around World Heart Day, observed on September 29.
