Pune, 26th October 2026: Thirteen women were rescued during a raid on Amrai Resort Lodging at Velu village in Bhor taluka after Pune rural police uncovered an alleged prostitution racket operating at the premises.

The raid was conducted by the Anti-Human Trafficking Unit (AHTU) of Pune rural police after receiving information that women were being lured with money and forced into prostitution. A decoy customer was sent to verify the information before a police team raided the premises.

Police initiated action against Vaibhav Balaji Ingle, who was manning the lodge counter. A case has been registered against lodge operator Raghu Shetty and Ingle at Rajgad police station.

According to police, Sneha Giri, deputy superintendent of police and nodal officer of the AHTU, received information that Shetty was allegedly luring women with money and inducing them to engage in prostitution at the lodge.

The police then planned a decoy operation. A person posing as a customer was given two Rs 500 notes and sent to the lodge along with two panch witnesses to verify the information. He was instructed to alert the police through a missed call after a woman was made available to him.

Following the signal, the police team and two independent witnesses reached the spot and inspected the premises, where the alleged prostitution racket was uncovered. Thirteen women were rescued during the operation.

The action has also raised questions over the alleged illegal activities at resorts in the Khed-Shivapur and Velu areas of Bhor taluka. Although the AHTU has taken action against such alleged activities at large resorts in the region, questions have been raised about whether local Rajgad police were unaware of the operations or had overlooked them.

Residents have demanded stricter action to prevent such activities. Further investigation is being conducted by Rajgad police.
