Pune: Exam Stress Suspected In Class X Student’s Death After Jump From Fourth-Floor Flat in Hadapsar
Hadapsar, 26th October 2026: Stress over upcoming examinations is suspected to have weighed on a Class X student who died after allegedly jumping from the balcony of her fourth-floor flat in Vaiduwadi, Hadapsar, around 7am on Sunday.
The student, who attended a private English-medium school in Hadapsar, was alone in the living room when she went to the balcony and jumped over the railing, police said.
Residents of the housing society rushed to the spot after she fell into the parking area and took her to a nearby private hospital, where doctors declared her dead on arrival.
Senior inspector Pandit Rejitwad of Wanowrie police said the girl’s parents told investigators that she had been under considerable stress over her upcoming examinations and was struggling to cope with her studies.
“We searched the room and other parts of the flat for a note, but none was found. Her parents have also told us that nobody had reprimanded her over her studies,” Rejitwad said.
The girl’s father works as an executive at a prominent company in Shivajinagar, while her mother is a homemaker.
Police said they would investigate the circumstances leading to the incident, including whether any factors beyond academic stress had contributed to it. The process of registering an accidental death report has been initiated.
