Pune: Unpaid Bills Leave FDA’s Moshi Office Without Internet, Phone Services For 8 Days
Pimpri Chinchwad, 30th October 2026: Internet and telephone services at the Pune divisional office of the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) in Moshi have remained suspended for the past eight days after Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) disconnected the services over unpaid bills. As a result, officials and employees have been forced to use mobile internet on their personal phones for routine office work.
The problem has recurred several times over the past few months. The bills are cleared only after the senior office releases funds for administrative expenses, following which the services are restored. However, delays in payments have repeatedly led to disconnections, inconveniencing officials and staff.
Internet and telephone connectivity are essential for the FDA’s day-to-day functioning, including official correspondence, information exchange and other administrative work. The disruption has forced employees to depend on their personal mobile internet connections, highlighting the need for regular funding to maintain basic facilities at government offices.
“We have informed the senior office about the requirement for funds to meet office expenses. Internet and telephone services will be restored soon. Although these services are currently unavailable, other office work is continuing,” said Girish Hukare, joint commissioner, FDA (Drugs), Pune division.
The Pune divisional office oversees the FDA’s work in five districts — Pune, Satara, Sangli, Kolhapur and Solapur. Repeated disruptions to internet and telephone services could affect administrative coordination across the division.
Business representatives visiting the office said funds should be made available regularly to ensure uninterrupted services and prevent recurring disruptions.
The suspension has also raised concerns among local residents, who are questioning how they can contact the FDA’s Moshi office in case of urgent requirements. Residents said telephone and internet services at the office should remain operational at all times to ensure accessibility and efficient public service.
