Pune: Robbers Loot Jewellery From Doctor Couple At Gunpoint

Katraj, September 29, 2020: A doctor couple was looted of ornaments worth Rs 1.2 lakh near the new Katraj tunnel by two armed robbers. The incident took place on the intervening night of September 26 and 27.

Dr Chinmay Vitthal Deshmukh (32) of Bibvewadi has lodged an FIR with Bharati Vidyapeeth police station in this regard against the two unidentified robbers.

According to police, the couple had gone for dinner at a hotel in Khed Shivapur on Saturday night. But the hotel was closed. They were coming back to Pune in the car via the Mumbai-Bengaluru highway around midnight. Dr Chinmay had stopped near Marathi Bana Hotel near Katraj New Tunnel to answer nature’s call. Suddenly two men came there on a bike and threatened his wife, who was sitting in the car, with a pistol. They demanded cash but didn’t much of it and they robbed the couple of two gold rings and a watch, totally worth Rs 1.2 lakh. The robbers fled towards Satara.

The doctor couple called the police and informed them about the incident. Later an FIR was registered. Police Sub-Inspector Mahendra Patil is investigating the case.
