Mehab Qureshi
Kondhwa, November 10, 2020: In a first of its kind of initiative, the Association of Pune NGOs (APN), along with the aid of Senior Police Inspector Sardar Patil of Kondhwa police station, has started a drive called ‘BeggarFree Kondhwa,’ which aims to make the Kondhwa area free of beggars.
This unique initiative enforces the citizens to stop giving any type of monetary help to the beggars, as to end beggar rackets in the city. According to the experts, hundreds of beggars are seen at traffic junctions, religious places, theatre and entertainment joints, educational institutes and playgrounds, all of these are a larger part of a scam.
In order to end this once and for all, APN has requested all the citizens to stop helping the beggars with hard cash. Salim Mulla, member of APN, NGO said, “Rather than helping the beggars we request you to send us a picture of those begging, and we ensure to help them with food and other stuff, and together we can end this racket”.
Senior PI Patil appealed, “The number of beggars is increasing in Kondhwa daily. Kondhwa police have joined hands with NGOs to end this fight against this racket. We request the citizens to cooperate.”
