Maharashtra Home Ministry Requests Citizens To Observe Low Key Celebration On New Year’s Eve

Pune/Mumbai, December 28, 2020: In the wake of Coronavirus disease (COVID-19), the Maharashtra home department has requested citizens to observe low key celebration on New year’s Eve. According to the order released, citizens should celebrate a simple new year at home to curb the pandemic.

Citizens are requested to pay special attention to ensure that that social distancing is maintained especially in public places such as on the beach, in the garden, on the street and wearing masks and using sanitizers should be made mandatory. Citizens should take care of their health especially in view of the outbreak of corona, especially in Mumbai– places like Gateway of India, Marine Lines, Girgaum Chowpatty, Juhu Chowpatty and other major cities in the state.

Citizens above 60 years and children below ten years should avoid going out of the house for safety and health reasons. Religious/cultural events should not be organised in any way on the occasion of New Year’s eve and processions should not be carried out.

On January 1, most of the citizens go to visit religious places. In such cases, social distancing should be followed. Fireworks are prohibited. The rules regarding noise pollution should be strictly followed. If any rules are not followed, strict action will be taken.
