Pune: PSI And 4 Constables Suspended After Prisoner Escaped From Custody

Pune, 20th June 2021: Pune city police have suspended a police sub-inspector (PSI) and four constables after a prisoner escaped from their custody. Action has been taken against the concerned after a preliminary departmental inquiry found them guilty.

Those suspended include PSI Sachin Pralhad Nimbalkar, Constables Balu Ramchandra Murkute, Sharad Natha Mokate, Mahavir Laxman Samse, and Kishore Chandrakant Nevse. Additional Commissioner of Police (Admin) Jalindar Supekar has ordered the suspension.

According to police, Ved Prakash Singh Virendra Kumar Singh, a native of Golwara in Sultanpur district of Uttar Pradesh, was lodged at Yerwada Central Jail. He was granted seven days furlough to attend the wedding of his daughter. The suspended policemen had escorted him to his native place. However, after the wedding, he escaped after removing the window grills of his house around 6 am on May 15.

Preliminary departmental inquiry revealed that the prisoner escaped due to the irresponsibility and negligence of the police. Concerned policemen have been suspended for serious misconduct and for tarnishing the image of the police force, the suspension order states.
