Pune: Teachers, Principals Of Educational Institutes Empowered To Collect Fine For Spitting In Vicinity Of Schools, Colleges
Pune, 10th August 2021: Spitting has been prohibited in the vicinity of educational institutions in the Maharashtra state to prevent the outbreak of corona. A fine of Rs 200 to Rs 1200 has been implemented if spit is found on the premises of the educational institution and the principal has been empowered to collect the fine.
The school education and sports department have issued a circular in this regard. Spitting in public by a person infected with a corona can affect other people, resulting in increasing the spread. Also, tuberculosis or other diseases can be caused by spitting.
It is the responsibility of the government to maintain the health of the students and provide them with a healthy environment for education. Therefore, guidelines on preventing spitting were issued by the circular to prevent students from getting health infections caused by spitting.
If there is a repeated violation of the rules the fine will increase each time up to Rs 1200. It has been stated that the responsibility for regular monitoring of guidelines will be by teachers authorized by the heads of the concerned educational institutions.
