Muslim Organisations From Pune Demand Release Of Maulana Kalim Siddique Arrested By UP Police; RSS Backed Muslim Rashtriya Manch Opposes Forced Conversion Of Non-Muslims

Pune, 29th September 2021: Kul Jamat-E-Tanzim, an umbrella body of 22 Muslim social and political organisations in Pune city, today submitted a memorandum to the District Collector demanding the release of Maulana Kaleem Siddiqui, Maulana and Mufti Jahangir Qasmi and other prisoners. They have been arrested by Uttar Pradesh on charges of alleged religious conversion of non-Muslims.

The memorandum states, “The attitude of government agencies and activities of administrative staff, the unwarranted arrest of Muslim leaders especially clerics, is a dangerous conspiracy to weaken the country and the constitution.”

They made the following demands:
(1) Maulana Kaleem Siddiqui, Maulana Umar Gautam, Mufti Jahangir should be released immediately. False charges against them should be dropped.

(2) The conspiracy to defame Muslim scholars and community on the basis of mere suspicion and to create negative thinking should be stopped.

(3) Government officials who are involved in such illegal activities should be investigated and legal action should be taken against them.

(4) To uphold the rule of law in order to maintain peace and security and national unity in the country.

Representatives from Jamat E Islami Hind, Popular Front of India (PFI), All India Imam Council, Maharashtra Action Committee, All India Majlis-e-Ittehad-ul-Muslimeen (AIMIM), Millat Foundation, Jamiat Ulema-Hind and others were present on the occasion.

Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) affiliated organisation Muslim Rashtriya Manch (MRM) decided to oppose the forced conversion of non-Muslims as well as opposed stand Kul Jamat-E-Tanzim.

Ali Daruwala, Maharashtra state president of MRM, said, “We had applied for permission to protest peacefully against these Muslim social organisations in front of the Collector office. But citing law and order along with COVID-19 protocol the Bund Garden police station denied permission for demonstration.”
