Pune, 24th August 2023: Pune Police and Vighnaharta Nyas Trust jointly organized the 2023 Scholarship Award Ceremony on August 24. The event took place at the Pune Police Headquarters in Shivajinagar, where Pune Police and Vighnaharta Nyas Trust came together to distribute educational materials to students facing adverse economic and social conditions.

The distinguished guests for the occasion included N. S. Umrani, Pro Vice Chancellor of Savitribai Phule Pune University, who graced the event as the chief guest. Retesh Kumaarr, Commissioner of Police, Pune City, and Chairman of Pune Police Vighnaharta Nyas Trust, presided over the program.

During the ceremony, a student named Priya Mate, a beneficiary of the scholarship granted by Pune Police and Vighnaharta Nyas Trust, shared her heartfelt sentiments. She expressed, “I have been privileged to receive scholarships from Pune Police and Vighnaharta Nyas Trust for three consecutive years. As a Chartered Accountant (CA), I am a living testament to the invaluable support provided by these institutions. Their scholarships and educational aids extend a helping hand to the underprivileged students of our society, motivating them to pursue education despite financial constraints. This initiative is a beacon of hope for impoverished students.” Her words resonated with all in attendance.

The chief guest, N. S. Umrani, addressed the gathering of parents, teachers, emphasizing the significance of education in shaping a nation’s reputation. He cited the present occasion as a testament to the transformative power of education. He urged students to appreciate the value of education by acknowledging the efforts of Pune Police and Vighnaharta Nyas Trust in supporting the educational aspirations of economically disadvantaged students. He assured continued commitment to this noble cause.

Commissioner of Police, Retesh Kumaarr, assured unwavering support from Pune Police and Vighnaharta Nyas Trust to the academic advancement of diligent students. He encouraged students to capitalize on this initiative to pave the way for their bright future and later contribute back to the scheme.

The event also saw the presence of Joint Commissioner of Police Sandeep Karnik, Additional Commissioner of Police (Crime) Ramnath Pokle, Additional Commissioner of Police (Eastern Regional Division) Ranjan Kumar Sharma, and Additional Commissioner of Police (Western Regional Division) Pravin Kumar Patil.

Fifty-two students from 30 schools within the commissioner’s jurisdiction received Rs 3,000 each in cash along with essential school materials. Furthermore, certificates were awarded to observers who served in Zones 1 to 5 during the Ganeshotsav period in 2022.

Among the distinguished attendees were the trustees of Pune Police Vighnaharta Nyas Trust, as well as Deputy Commissioners of Police (Zones 1 to 5) and Divisional ACPs. The program was graced by the presence of Managing Trustee Dr. Milind Bhoi and trustee Radhika Kulkarni.
