A.R. Rahman Live in Concert and R.K. Laxman Award Set to Create History in Pune
Pune, 30th October 2025: The city of Pune is set to witness a once-in-a-lifetime cultural spectacle as music legend A.R. Rahman headlines “An Evening of Music and Memories” at the MCA Stadium, Gahunje, on November 23. The grand event, hosted by the R.K. Laxman family, will combine music, art, and recognition in an evening that celebrates both creativity and legacy.
In a landmark announcement, the R.K. Laxman family has instituted the “R.K. Laxman Award for Excellence”, an annual honour dedicated to individuals whose work embodies the legendary cartoonist’s values of perseverance, creativity, and purpose. The inaugural award will be presented to acclaimed actor, director, and producer Aamir Khan for his outstanding contribution to Indian cinema and storytelling, informed Usha Laxman, daughter-in-law of R.K. Laxman, at a press conference on Wednesday.
Aamir Khan, known for his transformative roles and socially resonant films, has consistently pushed the boundaries of Indian filmmaking, much like R.K. Laxman redefined political and social satire through his timeless cartoons.
Adding to the celebration, A.R. Rahman’s concert will mark his first-ever stadium performance in Pune, promising a mesmerizing musical journey. The evening will feature iconic Indian voices Hariharan, Sukhwinder Singh, and Chinmayi, who will perform alongside the Oscar-winning composer.
“This is not just a concert; it’s a confluence of music, art, and human spirit,” said a representative from the R.K. Laxman family, emphasizing the event’s goal of uniting diverse creative expressions under one roof.
