A Sacred Observance: Sadhu Vaswani’s 59th Death Anniversary

Pune, 13th January 2025: Sadhu Vaswani Mission, Pune and its centres worldwide, will be commemorating the 59th Punyatithi of revered founder Sadhu Vaswani through two days of soulful prayers, satsangs, inspiring discourses and sevas.
On the 16th, the highlight of the day will be a prabhat pheri (twilight procession) at 5:30 AM. January 17th will be marked by a remembrance of Sadhu Vaswani’s funeral time with prayers.
The detailed program schedule is:
Thursday, 16th January 2025: The day will begin with a prabhat pheri—twilight procession at 5:30 AM through the streets of Pune Camp. Later, devotees will gather for a havan (sacred fire ceremony) and satsang. Later the day will feature afternoon, evening and a night satsang till midnight featuring bhajans, kirtan & recorded talks.
Friday, 17th January 2025: The second day opens with a havan, satsang, and seva at 11:30 AM with a talk by Didi Krishna Kumari, Global Head of Sadhu Vaswani Mission. At 1:00 PM, langar, a community meal will be served to the public. Prayers at 5:00 PM will commemorate the funeral time of Sadhu Vaswani. A deepak yatra at Sadhu Vaswani Chowk at 6:00 PM will symbolise hope and peace. The evening satsang will include scenes from Sadhu Vaswani’s inspiring life.
The Mission extends a warm invitation to all to partake in this sacred observance and honour the saint whose message of universal brotherhood and compassion transcends time.
The main sessions of the mahayagna will be live-streamed, allowing people in any corner of the world to be a part of the sacred occasion.
About Sadhu Vaswani (1879-1966): Sadhu Vaswani was a 19th-century saint, mystic, philosopher, poet and educationist. He championed the cause of animal rights. He stood shoulder to shoulder with Gandhi and Tilak during the Satyagraha movement. A visionary leader in education, he served as the principal of several prestigious colleges. Believing in the Nari Shakti, he founded the Mira Movement in Education for the girl child with a two-paise coin. Today with 16 schools and colleges, the Mira Movement emphasises character-building, value-based learning, and reverence for all life.
