Accident on Pune’s Navale Bridge: One Killed as Truck Rams Multiple Vehicles

Narhe, 3rd May 2025: In yet another accident on Pune’s infamous Navale Bridge, a truck lost control and rammed into multiple vehicles, killing a two-wheeler rider on the spot and injuring at least one other.
The accident took place around 1 pm today when the truck, reportedly heading from Katraj towards the city, struck four to five vehicles, including two motorcycles and two auto-rickshaws. One two-wheeler rider died on the spot, while another was seriously injured and rushed to a nearby hospital for treatment. The vehicles involved were badly damaged in the crash.
According to Deputy Commissioner of Police (Zone 3) Sambhaji Kadam, “Preliminary investigation suggests that the truck’s brakes. The vehicle crashed into two motorcycles and two rickshaws. One person has died, and we have taken the truck driver into custody. A detailed investigation is underway.”
The incident occurred barely hours after a separate accident involving a Mercedes car at Vadgaon Bridge, raising serious concerns about road safety on Pune’s key bridges and highways.
Navale Bridge has long been identified as an accident-prone zone in Pune. Over the past few years, the stretch has witnessed several fatal accidents due to speeding, brake failures, and poor road engineering.
Citizens have repeatedly called on authorities to implement stricter traffic regulation and infrastructure upgrades in the area.
