Chinchwad, August 10, 2020: The nurses at Aditya Birla Hospital have withdrawn their strike after a successful mediation by MLA Mahesh Landge who pleaded with the health workers to resume work in such difficult times. However, doctors are still protesting.

While the number of Coronavirus Disease (COVID-19) cases in Pimpri Chinchwad is on a constant rise, the doctors and nurses at the Aditya Birla Hospital went on a strike against the management. As Aditya Birla Hospital is one of the major hospitals in the city, the protest created pressure on the health system of the city, so Landge took the lead in resolving the conflict.

Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Commissioner Shravan Hardikar, Dr Pavan Salvi of the Health Department also facilitated a meeting between the hospital management and the protesting staff members. Responding to the requests by the MLA as well as the municipal officials, the nurses have resumed duty after three days of protest.

Landge appealed to the medical staff saying that it’s not right to fight amongst each other in these difficult times. “I understand the challenges that you all are facing, and I support you. But right now, people in the city need you. This is not the time to protest, we all need to fight Coronavirus. I will try to bring you justice by taking your issues to the Government,” Landge said.
