It is a rare neuromuscular disorder, which leads to heart diseases such as heart block, progressive paralysis of eye muscles and abnormal accumulation of colored material on nerve rich membrane lining the eyes leading to chronic inflammation, progressive degeneration and wearing away of certain eye structures. This disease also leads to muscle weakness, short stature, hearing loss and other problems related to movements as it affects part of the brain”,explained Dr. Rajesh Badani, Senior Consultant Cardiology and Electrophysiology, Aditya Birla Memorial Hospital.
