Adventure-Pulse successfully leads largest contingent of Indians to the summit of Mt. Kilimanjaro

· 17 climbers successfully reach the top of Kilimanjaro (19,341 feet) – the world’s highest free standing mountain.

Adventure-Pulse, one of Pune’s premier High altitude Trekking & Mountaineering company recently created history, by successfully leading the largest contingent of Indians to the summit of Mt. Kilimanjaro, the highest point on the continent of Africa!

With an astounding 95% success ratio where the average summit rate is no more than 50% on a mountain like Kilimanjaro, Team Adventure-Pulse saw 17 out of their 18 climbers successfully reach the top of the World’s highest free-standing mountain, in a week long expedition, on the 1st of February at 09:00hrs Local Time (as one member had to turn back just short of the summit).

“This was an incredible achievement as Mt. Kilimanjaro, at 19,340 ft above sea level, has the unique distinction of being the highest free-standing mountain in the world and one of the Seven Summits (the highest points on each of the seven continents), in addition to being the highest point on the continent of Africa”, beams Samir Patham, the expedition leader.

The 18-member team that started their expedition on 25th January, was made up of regular trekkers from different walks of life amongst whom was also an incredible 10 yr old, Aryaa Bhatia (accompanied by his mother Pawan Sohi) who went on to become the youngest Indian American, to reach the summit of Kilimanjaro.

The other members of the team were Wrena from Dublin, California; Vasavadutta and Megha from Bangalore; Anuradha from Nashik; Ashdin, Poorva, Sapna & Prashanth from Mumbai; Pooja Kapoor, Pratima Kore, Ipsa, Kanishk Pande, Hitanshu Malani (both class XI students), Salil, Karishma & Samir Patham the expedition leader from Pune.

When asked about her experience of the trek, Pratima Kore says, “Summitting the highest free-standing mountain in the world and the tallest in Africa is a feeling that cannot be expressed in words. It’s better to look back and say ‘I can’t believe I did that’, than to look back and say ‘I wish I had done that’. More than the summit it was the journey that I will always cherish!! Huge thanks to my sister Pranoti and mountain buddies Pooja, and Samir Patham the expedition leader who has successfully led over a dozen climbs to mountains like – Kilimanjaro in Africa, Elbrus in Russia and the Everest Trek in Nepal. Adventure-Pulse has mastered the art of high altitude climbs and they exactly know each climber’s pulse to successfully put them on the summit”.

Wrena had this to add after the trek. “Yes, I made it to the top!! Could not have been possible without the inspiring guidance of the entire Adventure-Pulse team. They gave me the space I needed, to soak in the glorious and surreal landscapes as I slowly, one-step-at-a-time walked up to the top, and yet they were right there when I needed them the most, giving me the hand I needed to pull me up rocks and crevices. A big thank you to the entire team, your encouragement and support took me to the top”.

Adventure-Pulse is also credited with leading the youngest trekker from Maharashtra to the Everest Base Camp in November 2016 and leading the largest school contingent from the Bishop’s School, Pune to the Everest Base Camp, Nepal a few years ago, as well.

With the success of this Kilimanjaro Expedition – 2018, the Adventure-Pulse team looks forward to their next big challenge, the summit of Mt. Everest, in the spring of 2018.
