AFMC Pune Hosts Soft Embalmed Cadaver Workshop for Medical Postgraduates

Wanowrie, 25th December 2023: A soft embalmed Cadaveric Workshop was conducted on Sunday at Armed Forces Medical College, Pune. The facility of soft embalming of cadavers exists only in a few centres of the country.  Soft embalmed cadaver simulates dissection planes of actual surgeries and is acknowledged as a useful teaching aid.

The workshop was conducted by faculty from Dept of Obstetrics and Gynaecology in collaboration with Dept of Anatomy, AFMC. Altogether, 55 postgraduate students from different medical colleges of Pune participated in the workshop. Various advanced gynaecological surgical procedures were demonstrated.

Lt Gen Narendra Kotwal, SM, VSM, Dir & Comdt and Maj Gen D Vivekanand, Dean & Dy Comdt complimented Brig Sanjay Singh, Prof & HoD, Dept. of Obstetrics and Gynaecology, AFMC, Col Debasis Bandyopadhyay, HoD, Dept. of Anatomy, AFMC and the team of Faculty Officers who facilitated the event. The event showcases the seamless vertical integration of departments of AFMC in delivering quality medical education and training.
