Wakad, 25th May 2024: The Pimpri Chinchwad police have taken legal action against the owner of a four-storey building that was demolished on February 14, 2024, by the municipal corporation due to its hazardous tilt in Wakad.

The decision to demolish the building came after reports surfaced of significant structural cracks, causing the building to lean dangerously towards the main road, posing a severe threat to nearby residents.

Owner Sunil Dolwani has been booked under Section 336 of the Indian Penal Code. The case was registered on May 22 with the Wakad police in Pimpri Chinchwad.

Regarding the delay in initiating legal proceedings, municipal commissioner Shekhar Singh explained, “We had submitted a written complaint to the police earlier. However, the police requested additional documents and information before filing an FIR. We have since provided all necessary details and documents, leading to the registration of the case.”

While the municipal corporation had initially granted permission for the building’s construction, it attributed the tilt to faulty architectural design.
