Ahmednagar: FIR Registered Against Two Persons For Impersonation As Army Jawan

Ahmednagar/Pune, October 16, 2020: Based on input from the Military Intelligence and a complaint from the Army, Ahmednagar district police has arrested two persons for allegedly impersonating as Army Jawan and trying to enter Armoured Corps Centre & School (ACC&S), Ahmednagar. Police have seized fake Army identity card from the possession of the one the two accused.

The incident took place around 2.30 pm yesterday at the ACC&S gate. The two accused identified as Sopan Mahru Patil (22) and Tushar Dnyaneshwar Patil (24), both residents of Dhule district, reached the gate on a motorcycle and tried to enter the training establishment. However, the guards on duty checked their identity card and found it to be suspicious. They alerted the Military Intelligence (MI) of Southern Command. Accordingly, an MI team reached the spot and questioned the duo and found that they were impersonating as Army Jawan. Later, they were handed over to Ahmednagar police.

An official of the ACC&S has lodged FIR with Camp police station. The accused has been charged for offences under sections 420 (cheating), 170 (impersonating a public servant) and 34 (common intention) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).

According to officials, the motive is still not clear as to why they wanted to enter the ACC&S. They will be produced before a court today for further custody.
