AICTE And Jio Institute Unveil Ambitious Plan To Train Faculty In AI And Data Science
New Delhi, 18th August 2023: In collaboration with the Jio Institute, the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) has embarked on a pioneering partnership to establish a Faculty Development Programme focusing on Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Data Science. This strategic alliance falls within the purview of AICTE’s ATAL (AICTE Training and Learning) initiative, designed to enhance and reinvigorate the skills of faculty members from institutions approved by AICTE.
The Jio Institute will play the role of the hosting institution for a comprehensive five-day residential program aimed at faculty development. The inauguration of this program is scheduled for August 21, 2023, and will be officiated by Professor TG Sitharam, the Chairman of AICTE.
The collaborative venture holds the key objective of empowering senior faculty members and academic leaders with a profound grasp of AI and Data Science. Additionally, the program places a significant emphasis on the ethical dimensions of utilizing AI tools for immersive educational experiences. A select group of 40 faculty members from AICTE-affiliated institutions will receive intensive training through this initiative.
Professor Sitharam expressed that this partnership with Jio Institute is a testament to their commitment to nurturing cutting-edge education. This commitment ensures that faculty members are well-equipped to tackle the forthcoming challenges, enabling them with the skills to navigate the intricacies of evolving educational landscapes and championing academic excellence.
The primary goal of the program is to equip participants with valuable insights into establishing effective teaching and learning environments, given the escalating influence of AI-powered information and research. The curriculum encompasses a diverse spectrum of topics, ranging from Data Visualization, Natural Language Processing, Time Series & Optimization, Applications, and Generative AI, to Large Language Models. These subjects delve into the profound impacts of AI and data sciences across diverse sectors such as science, engineering, healthcare, and liberal arts.
The program will be facilitated by a distinguished lineup of global experts and educators. Esteemed individuals including Dr. G Ravichandran, Dr. Ravee Chittoor, Dr. Nilay Yajnik and Dr. Shailesh Kumar, affiliated with Jio Institute, (AI COE, Jio), Prof. Vishnuprasad Nagadevara (Former Dean, IIM Bangalore), Dr. Larry Birnbaum (Northwestern University USA), Mr. Jayen Thakker (ex-Tableau and IBM), and Mr. Prasad Joshi (AI COE, Jio) will lead various sessions.
