New Delhi, 18th August 2023: Honoring one’s nation takes on a remarkable dimension when we embrace its diverse treasures, a testament to the sacrifices of our forebearers. This Independence Day, MakeMyTrip, India’s foremost online travel enterprise, collaborates with the Ministry of Tourism to unveil an exceptional ‘Traveller’s Map of India,’ spotlighting over 600 destinations that transcend the customary tourist circuit.

The Traveller’s Map of India microsite, ingeniously developed by MakeMyTrip, establishes an interactive portal for voyagers to unearth hidden tourism gems enveloped within the nation’s borders, catering to their individual preferences. A labor of thoughtfulness, this meticulously curated microsite harmonizes with the Government of India’s visionary ‘DekhoApnaDesh’ (Explore Your Country) initiative.

Shri G. Kishan Reddy, Union Minister of Tourism, Culture, and DoNER, expressed his appreciation, stating, “MakeMyTrip’s endeavor to showcase India’s diverse array of destinations and bolster domestic tourism is heartily welcomed. We encourage further initiatives that contribute to our collective aspiration of showcasing our nation’s magnificence to the global stage.”

The compilation of this curated shortlist was inspired by a comprehensive review of India’s travel search history on MakeMyTrip’s platform. With millions of monthly visitors, the destination searches on this platform resonate as a collective voice, essentially constituting a nationwide ballot for the most captivating locales. Rooted in this principle, the selections encompass lesser-known destinations and those familiar primarily to specific regions within the country. Furthermore, these selections are thoughtfully categorized with descriptive tags such as adventure, wildlife, heritage, mountains, beaches, and more, simplifying the exploration process for travelers of varying preferences.

“The Traveller’s Map of India echoes the sentiments of countless Indian travelers, rendering it a fitting tribute to August 15th,” Rajesh Magow, Co-Founder & Group CEO of MakeMyTrip, remarked.

He continued, “Our commitment to championing India’s diverse tourism offerings propelled us to extend the horizons of exploration. What could be more fitting than enabling every Indian to be an ambassador for our country’s cultural, historical, natural, and geographical wonders? We extend our heartfelt gratitude to the Ministry of Tourism for endorsing our initiative, reinforcing our unwavering dedication to showcase India as the world’s premier tourism destination.”

The Traveller’s Map of India also champions the latent potential of domestic tourism as a robust catalyst for socio-economic progress, thereby making a direct and momentous contribution to India’s multifaceted economic growth.
