Pune, 8th September 2025: Passengers aboard an Air India Express flight (IX-2717) from Bhubaneswar to Pune had an anxious moment on Sunday afternoon when the aircraft aborted its scheduled landing at Lohegaon airport due to poor weather conditions.

The flight, carrying nearly 100 passengers, departed Bhubaneswar at around 1.40 pm and reached Pune airspace by 3.30 pm. However, as the aircraft approached the runway, the pilot initiated a go-around instead of landing.

Biswajeet Biswal, a resident of Sinhagad Road who had dropped his daughter at the airport earlier in the day, said he had been tracking the flight on a live radar application. “I noticed that the flight had arrived in Pune but did not touch down. Instead, it circled and climbed again. That’s when I realised something was not right,” he recalled.

Airline officials confirmed that weather played a major role. “The flight had to perform a go-around due to heavy rain and reduced visibility at Pune airport,” a senior Air India Express source told Punekar News.

According to airport sources, at least two other aircraft operating in the same time window also experienced delays and had to adjust their landing patterns because of the weather.

Despite the disruption, officials confirmed that there were no safety concerns and the flight landed safely after the brief diversion.
