AIR MARSHAL RKS SHERA, AIR OFFICER COMMANDING-IN-CHIEF MAINTENANCE COMMAND VISIT AT 9 BASE REPAIR DEPOT
Pune, September 17, 2019 : Air Marshal RKS Shera Ati Vishisht Seva Medal, Vishisht Seva Medal Air Officer Commanding- in-Chief Maintenance Command accompanied with his wife Mrs. Jaspreet Shera, President Air Force Wives Welfare Association (R), Headquarter Maintenance Command, Indian Air Force arrived on two day visit to 9 Base Repair Depot, Pune on 16 Sep 2019. It was his first visit to 9 BRD after taking over as AOC-in-C of Maintenance Command on 01 Feb 2019.
The AOC-in-C and his wife were received by Air Commodore SP Bhandare, Air Officer Commanding, 9 BRD AF and Mrs. Preeti Bhandare, President AFWWA (Local). After arrival, the AOC-in-C was introduced to the Key Personnel of the Depot. Further, he was given a comprehensive brief about the role, production tasks and the achievements of the Depot. He inaugurated and dedicated state of art Electro-Optics Lab to the nation. The AOC-in-C was briefed on the new concepts and technologies incorporated in lab & take always for the IAF, which he appreciated. He also visited various Production Departments of the Depot.
The Air Marshal interacted with Air Warriors and Defence Civilians of the Depot over a cup of tea. He shared his mantra of ‘Ownership, Accountability & Passion’ with the Air Warriors and Defence Civilians. He advised all to take ownership of the work assigned to them and execute it with passion. He appreciated the excellent work done by the Depot personnel and encouraged all to strive continuously towards excellence and keep driving through cutting edge technology with undying flame of innovation.
The President AFWWA(R) inaugurated “Go Green” initiative of AF School Chandan Nagar at 9 BRD AF by planting a sapling. This is a unique project wherein the school will be planting more than thousand plants, which will be fed through drip irrigation to conserve water.
The Air Marshal was highly impressed with the quality of work produced by 9 BRD. He lauded the efforts of this Depot on successful completion of vital projects through indigenization and reverse engineering. He complemented “team 9 BRD” for mastering cutting edge technology and efforts towards self reliance.
