Pune, 26th November 2024: With the recent dip in temperatures, air pollution levels in Pune have surged, leading to an increase in respiratory issues among residents. The combination of cold weather and dust particles settling in the air has particularly impacted individuals with asthma and other respiratory conditions.

Over the past two to three days, Pune has experienced a significant drop in temperature, accompanied by thick morning fog. This drop has caused dew and suspended dust particles to remain trapped in the air, worsening pollution levels. Areas such as University Chowk, Alandi, Nigdi, and Bhosari have reported a noticeable rise in pollution, contributing to an uptick in cases of coughing, asthma, and other respiratory disorders.

Doctors have also observed that the seasonal transition is taking a toll on public health. Cases of colds, coughs, and rheumatic complaints have been on the rise as the weather shifts. Experts are forecasting further drops in temperature in the coming days and have urged individuals, particularly those with pre-existing respiratory issues, to take precautions.

Residents are advised to wear masks in high-pollution areas and stay indoors during early morning hours when pollution and fog levels are at their peak.
