Ajay Devgn to Portray Cricketer Balu in Another Biopic

Mumbai – March 22, 2024 – Bollywood actor Ajay Devgn, amidst the buzz surrounding his upcoming film ‘Maidaan’, is set to embark on another sports biopic. Following his portrayal of Syed Abdul Rahim in ‘Maidaan’, Ajay is reportedly in talks to depict the life of cricketer Palvankar Balu.

Balu, a pivotal figure in Indian cricket history, battled caste discrimination to establish himself as one of the country’s pioneering cricketers. Producers Ajay Devgn, Tigmanshu Dhulia, and Preeti Vinay Sinha are collaborating on this project, shedding light on Balu’s journey from a groundsman in Pune to a celebrated cricketer in Bombay (now Mumbai). Despite facing challenges, Balu’s determination and talent earned him recognition, making his story ripe for cinematic adaptation. While the lead actor and director for the biopic are yet to be finalized, production is anticipated to commence by the year’s end.

In addition to his portrayal of Syed Abdul Rahim in ‘Maidaan’, Ajay Devgn is gearing up for another significant role, this time in a biopic shedding light on the life of cricketer Palvankar Balu. Balu, the first cricketer from the Dalit community, overcame caste discrimination to carve a place for himself in the annals of Indian cricket history. Producers Ajay Devgn, Tigmanshu Dhulia, and Preeti Vinay Sinha are collaborating on this project, aiming to showcase Balu’s inspiring journey from a groundsman in Pune to a celebrated cricketer in Bombay (now Mumbai). While the lead actor and director are yet to be finalized, production is slated to commence later this year.

Ajay Devgn’s upcoming projects also include ‘Singham Again’, ‘Raid 2’, and ‘Aon Mein Kaha Dum Tha’, alongside his recent release ‘Shaitan’, which is garnering favorable responses at the box office.
