Ajit Pawar Lashes Out Over Vaishnavi Hagawane Case: “Won’t Spare Those Monsters”

Pimpri-Chinchwad, 22nd May 2025: Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar has strongly condemned the tragic death of Vaishnavi Hagawane, who allegedly died by suicide at her residence on Friday. In a phone call with Vaishnavi’s grieving parents, Pawar expressed deep anger and promised swift action against the accused.
During the call, Ajit Pawar said, “If they didn’t want to treat her like gold, why did they marry her and bring her into their home? I won’t spare those monsters.” He also assured Vaishnavi’s family that every possible legal measure would be taken to bring the accused to justice.
The incident has sent shockwaves across Maharashtra, especially as one of the main accused, Rajendra Hagawane — a former leader of the Nationalist Congress Party (Ajit Pawar faction) — was expelled from the party shortly after the news broke. Vaishnavi’s husband Shashank Hagawane, along with his parents and sister, have been named in the FIR and are currently on the run.
“I’m With You and Your Daughter”
Pawar reportedly asked Vaishnavi’s parents if she had married for love, and whether they had ever informed anyone about the harassment she was facing. “Had we known about the abuse earlier, we would’ve intervened sooner,” he said.
He added that six police teams have now been deployed to track down the absconding accused. “I’ve instructed the police to apply all relevant charges and ensure that justice is done. I’m with you, and I stand firmly by your daughter’s side,” Pawar assured.
This strong response from the Deputy CM comes as public outrage continues to grow over the allegations of domestic abuse and the tragic circumstances surrounding Vaishnavi’s death.
