Mumbai, February 4, 2021: The opposition BJP is criticizing the government over the hike in petrol and diesel prices in the country. Opposition leader Devendra Fadnavis had demanded reduction of tax on petrol and diesel in the state.

Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar said, “The central government has increased the rates of petrol and diesel. It cannot be supported. That is why Fadnavis is making such statements about the state government. The people of our country know who is in charge of raising petrol and diesel prices. On the contrary, it won’t be surprising if the petrol costs Rs 100 in future.”

Pawar has said that Fadnavis may have made such a statement to hide his own failure.

Regarding the BJP’s agitation tomorrow on power tariff, Pawar said that the state government has taken an important decision regarding power tariff. The farmers were in arrears of Rs 45,000 crore of which only Rs 15,000 crore is due. The state government has waived off Rs 30,000 crore even though the power companies are in financial trouble. Therefore, BJP is going to hold an agitation tomorrow, said Pawar.

Does Congress want the post of Deputy Chief Minister?

On the proposal of Congress for the post of Deputy Chief Minister, Pawar said that there is no fact in such news. When the Mahavikas Aghadi came into existence a year ago, all three leaders, Sonia Gandhi, Sharad Pawar and Uddhav Thackeray, sat together and took decisions. We are working to implement that whole decision. The decision to change the state president is an internal matter of the Congress. There is no reason for others to discuss it, said Pawar.
