Album that focuses emotional World Beyond Borders – American Album drama

Pune, 25th October 2023: In the diverse elements of nature, there exists a self-identity that is intrinsic and never to be abandoned. What truly matters is where one’s existence begins. Portraying the manifestation of human existence is what the play ‘American Album’ is about.

For over three to four decades, Indian youth from middle-class families have been going to America for education, securing jobs, settling there, leading prosperous lives with good salaries, luxurious homes, cars, dollars in their pockets, and everything one could desire.

Even though they reside in America, their roots are undeniably Indian. They constantly reminisce about India – their relatives, friends, festivals, traditions, and culture.
At the same time their children who are born in America are completely American and so culturally different.
They lack a personal connection to India. They have minimal contact with their Indian relatives, which affects their ties.
Is everything as perfect in America as it seems?
‘No’ is the answer, and unusual events also occur in America.

‘American Album’ portrays the example of the Kanetkar family from Chicago, who have been permanent residents in America for many years. Harihar and Nileema Kanetkar are highly educated and have established their own business in Chicago. They have gained respect and recognition in their society, and their journey symbolizes their determination.

They have one daughter Honey, who is truly American in every sense. She falls into the trap of addiction and recklessness. Her fall results in the bitter experience of the Kanetkar family. It forces them to think about sending her to India.
Does this journey to India changes her perspective of homeland, and recognizing her people in real sense?
All these questions find their answers in the Marathi play ‘American Album,’ which is captivating audiences.
At the same time this drama emphasizes on patriotism and love for our country.

The play is written by Rajan Mohadikar, and it’s directed by renowned director Purushottam Berde. This high voltage drama encompasses lavish set, lighting, music, and costumes. The talented actors, including Deepak Karanjikar, Ashutosh Nerlekar, Monica Joshi, Amruta Patwardhan, and Bhagyashree Desai, deliver remarkable performances.

The play utilizes audiovisual media brilliantly, with Suhasini Deshpande, Chandrashekhar Bhagwat, Nitin Paregaonkar, and Priya Nerlekar contributing to the immersive experience.
