Aleksander, Margot lift singles title at Gadre Marine MSLTA – ITF Junior Grade 3 U18 tennis Championships
Pune, December 3, 2022: Local Girl and third seed Madhurima Sawant and Giantkiller Hitesh Chauhan faltered in the finals as Margot Phanthala of France and Serbian Aleksandar Daskalovic won the Girls and Boys singles titles at the Gadre Marine MSLTA – ITF Junior Grade 3 U18 tennis Championships for the MV Deo Cup organized by Deccan Gymkhana Under the auspices of ITF, Maharashtra State Lawn Tennis Association and Pune Metropolitan District Tennis Association which concluded at the Deccan Gymkhana Tennis Courts.
In the Girls finals seventh seeded Margot Phanthala of France upset third seeded and local favourite Madhurima Sawant 5-7, 6-1, 6-2 in two hours and 10 minutes tussle , Sawant played well to win the first set , slight back spasm disturbed her rhythm and she could not get back going down 6-1,6-2 in the second and the third set.
In the Boys Singles finals sixth seeded Aleksandar Daskalovic Serbia played a solid game to end the winning run of Hitesh Chauhan 7-5, 6-2 in 1 hour 30 minute match. The singles winners got a trophy and 100points and the Runner up got a trophy and 60points. The prizes were given away at the hands of Mr Sharad Kannamwar Life President MSLTA, Sunder Iyer Jt Secretary AITA , Mr.Sankalp Thali Head Marketing Gadre Marine, Mr.Ashwin Girme, tennis secretary of Deccan Gymkhana and the tournament Director, Mr Vishwas Lokare, VP MSLTA , Mr Girish Inamdar, Gen Secretary Deccan Gymkhana, Mihir Kelkar Finance Secretary DG , ITF Supervisor Leena Nageshkar were present on the occasion .
