Pune, 4th October 2025: Pune residents will get to celebrate Kojagiri Pournima under the moonlight this year as the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) has decided to keep all major parks and gardens open till midnight on Monday (October 6).

The move aims to allow citizens to enjoy the festive evening in an open and serene environment. The PMC’s Parks Department has announced that all 216 parks, along with the aquarium and zoo, will remain open from 6 a.m. to 12 midnight.

According to the department, thousands of citizens visit parks on Kojagiri night to stroll, chat, and take part in the traditional milk-drinking gatherings under the full moon. To ensure a smooth experience, the civic body has made special arrangements for security, lighting, and cleanliness across all major parks.

Under Section 66 (10) of the Maharashtra Municipal Corporation Act, 1949, it is the duty of the corporation to provide public spaces for recreation, and this initiative aligns with that responsibility.

A Night of Social Harmony and Celebration
Kojagiri Pournima is widely celebrated as a night of joy, music, and community bonding. Families and friends gather to enjoy moonlit walks, cultural programs, and light-hearted conversations. The decision to extend park timings has been welcomed by Punekars, who see it as an opportunity to celebrate the festival outdoors.

PMC Appeals for Discipline and Cleanliness
The Municipal Corporation has urged citizens to maintain discipline, cleanliness, and peace while celebrating. Joint supervision by the PMC staff and local police will be in place to prevent any incidents of noise, littering, or disturbance.

Citywide Preparations Underway
Prominent parks in areas such as Sinhagad Road, Kothrud, Shivajinagar, Nagar Road, and Pimple Saudagar will remain open till midnight. Additional lighting, water, and sanitation facilities have been arranged.
