Alphonso: Hapus Mango Rates Fall Sharply in Pune Markets Amid High Arrivals from Konkan
Pune, 11th May 2026: Prices of Konkan’s Alphonso (Hapus) mangoes have dropped in Pune and Mumbai markets as the mango season enters its final phase and arrivals increase sharply.
According to traders, around 8,000 to 10,000 boxes of Alphonso mangoes are currently arriving daily at the fruit market in Shri Chhatrapati Shivaji Market Yard from the Konkan region. The rise in supply has reduced prices in both wholesale and retail markets, making the mangoes more affordable for consumers.
At present, wholesale prices of Alphonso mangoes range between Rs 400 and Rs 600 per dozen, depending on quality, while retail prices are between Rs 500 and Rs 700 per dozen.
Earlier this season, Alphonso prices were significantly higher due to lower production and limited supply. Traders said changing weather conditions affected mango cultivation in Konkan this year. At the beginning of the season, prices had reached Rs 2,000 to Rs 2,500 per dozen. Around Akshaya Tritiya, strong demand and lower arrivals pushed prices to nearly Rs 1,800 to Rs 2,000 per dozen.
Mango trader Nitin Kunjir said the current increase in arrivals has led to a major drop in prices in the market.
Another trader, Karan Jadhav, said the mango season is expected to continue till May 25. He said rising temperatures in Konkan prompted farmers to send larger quantities of mangoes to the market.
Traders also said Alphonso exports were affected this year due to the conflict in Gulf countries. As exports slowed, more mangoes became available in domestic markets, further bringing down prices.
“Usually, mango arrivals decline after May 10 to 15, but this year supply has remained high even in the final phase of the season,” Jadhav said.
He added that despite lower prices and higher availability, consumer demand has remained comparatively low.
