American Couple Donates 95 Lakh Rupees to Pune’s Vidyarthi Sahayyak Samiti

Pune, 24th April 2024: A donation of 95 lakh 25 thousand rupees (equivalent to 1 lakh 15 thousand dollars) was made to the Vidyarthi Sahayyak Samiti by Sunil and Sadhana Shenoy, a couple from America. Last year, the couple donated $6,200 (Approximately Rs 5 Lakh 15 Thousand). Impressed by a post on social media, the couple decided to contribute to the committee.

The Vidyarthi Sahayyak Samiti has been dedicated to providing accommodation, food, and personality development opportunities to needy and promising students from rural areas in Pune for many years. Trustees of the Samiti, Dr Makarand Phadke and Shenoy are connected through social media. Shenoy learned about Samiti’s work from Dr. Phadke’s social media posts and donated $6,200. Upon visiting Pune in January, Shenoy inspected the construction site of a hostel for girls and expressed his desire to contribute another 1 Lakh dollars. Consequently, he donated 1 lakh 15 thousand dollars.

The committee is delighted to have received around one crore rupees through social media, which acknowledges its community-oriented efforts. Tukaram Gaikwad, Trustee of the Committee, expressed gratitude to the Shenoy couple and Dr. Makarand Phadke.
