Amul Reduces Price of One-Litre Milk Pouches for the First Time in Decades

Pune, 25th January 2025: Amul, the dairy giant, has slashed the price of its one-litre milk pouches by ₹1 across the country, effective from Friday. This marks the first price reduction for one-litre variants in decades, a noteworthy deviation from Amul’s traditional pricing strategy.
The price cut applies to four popular milk variants: Amul Gold, Amul Taaza, Amul T-Special, and Amul Chai Mazza. However, the price of 500ml pouches remains unchanged.
Historically, Amul has increased milk prices annually by ₹1 to ₹2 per litre. Last June, the company raised prices for all its milk variants, including Amul Gold, Amul Shakti, Amul Taaza, Amul Buffalo, and Amul Cow Milk.
Despite this price reduction, Amul’s financial performance remains robust. Gujarat Cooperative Milk Marketing Federation (GCMMF), which owns Amul, recorded an 8% growth in annual turnover, reaching ₹59,445 crore in the financial year 2023-24..
