An actor should know about other arts: Vikram Gokhale
Pune, October 16: “An actor should know about all the arts including paintings, music, and writing and this is the rule of theatre,” said veteran actor Vikram Gokhale. Gokhale was speaking after launching the book ‘Shirishrang’ penned by noted architect Shirish Dasnurkar at Rang Darshan , Jyotsna Bhole Hall on Tilak Road, on Saturday, October 15. The book comprises some of the paintings which were drawn by Dasnurkar during the lockdown.
According to Gokhale, the definition of acting is far more than what an actor depicts on the screen and the knowledge of other arts helps an actor to build or create images for the audience. Gokhale also said he liked nature and also paintings and he complimented Dasnurkar for the paintings which he had created and were exhibited. He also said that Dasnurkar’s book reminded him of American writer Ayn Rand’s works.
Meanwhile, a coffee-table book titled – ‘Creations that matter’, depicting the works done by Dasnurkar Associates, in the past 36 years since its inception, was also released on the occasion.
Shirish Dasnurkar said that he penned his thoughts on several topics during the lockdown and that they are integral parts of the book. Dasnurkar has also exhibited over 100 of his paintings, which he has created using water colours and acrylic paints.
Rajesh Damle moderated the program in which Sameer Belvalkar, Director, Belvalkar Housing, also shared his thoughts about Dasnurkar’s personality. This is Dasnurkar’s second book, having earlier penned ‘Shirishwaari’.
